Day Dreams...Wishfull Thinking...The Real World

Day Dreams...Wishful Thinking... The Real World

Some call it 'day dreaming' - others prefer 'wishful thinking'. What's the difference? Plenty.
Dreaming infers that the individual who labels his/her thoughts as 'dreams' is engaging in an escape from reality - essentially, an amorphous state of mind that requires no action and is usually comprised of some of life's pleasures. Wishful thinking is hard nosed, positive thinking, an urge to change something that rankles or worse, and frequently leads to an action of one sort or another. And now THE REAL WORLD!

Political Parties In The USA: Democrats, Republicans, Tea Party-ers, Independents, and others. Each claims to hold the high ground, and demeans the opposition. Is it necessary to differ on virtually every issue of national consequence? If the party in power proposes a plan of action that calls for acceptance by the party across the aisle, is there no way to agree? Certainly, there can be differences of opinion, and usually the party proposing expects their brethren over there to react with an immediate rejection. So, the first hurdle is '...is the proposal detrimental to the welfare of the citizens of America?' Does the opposition really believe that passage of the bill will harm many more than will be benefited? Can an elected representative of the people accept the concept that the proposal offered is presented in good faith, however unpalatable it may appear at first reading? Compromise, propose adjustments, approve that which is acceptable, reject the unacceptable, seek a solution not a dissolution! WISHFUL THINKING!

Those not in power might state objections on grounds that see no logic and/or common sense. Denegrating the proposal simply because it was presented by those in power is not sufficient. If it is a ploy to gain acceptance by party members and attract new members, it is counter productive and buries the proposal in a sinkhole of political salmagundi.

Wishful Thinking calls for intelligence, understanding, transparency and a willingness to listen to the opposition before trashing the proposal.

THE REAL WORLD: Stop it before it gains adherents in quantity. Find the lowest objective of the plan and dwell on it. Seek adjectives and adverbs that are legal but obtrusive. Use them at every opportunity. Create fear. Forecast a pox on society!

Bring every member of your party to the front lines, insist on unanimity, fight the battle, no hold barred, it is a war and we must win!

We live in a society that debunks thoughtful approaches to problems that demand solutions. It will be my way - or NO WAY!

Offer platitudes, hand it out like sugar cookies, makes no difference if the words chosen fail to deal with the subject! Appeal to basic instincts that play like a harp at a wedding or a funeral! It is galling, upsetting, disconcerting to realize that individuals and audiences can absorb the spin that can lead the party to a victory - while behind the scenes the spinners and manipulators feast on the success of their co-opting of the real world!

ViewPoint can only observe and comment. We see dangerous times ahead as the glib and the magniloquent take to their microphones, head for their rostrums, preen for the cameras and spill their crafted, noxious, plans for the American public. Nothing less than a massive dose of common sense will bring millions out of their day dreams and give them a hard look at The Real World.

Wishful Thinkers unite. Turn 'thinking' into action. Write letters. Join partys that speak your language. Send dollars to causes you espouse. Start your own Blog. You know the difference between dreaming and  thinking. Follow the path that leads America to a sane and sensible country of citizens that appreciate leaders who want what you want - and go for it!

That can be The Real World!
